Violence in the Media
To Be Or Not To Be Banned
Ways parents can say NO to t.v. violence
Parents now a days don't know what thier kids are watching on t.v. or don't know whats right and wrong to watch, but here's a'couple ways to block inappropriate or violent t.v. shows.Parents can use the V-chip to block certain channels on thier t.v.The V-chip is an electronic chip that works together with your t.v. to block channels that you pick that have different ratings. If not the V-chip you can simpily just turn off the t.v. or switch the channel.
Violence and Research
People often question what violence really is, violence is the exertion of force so as to injure or abuse. A question that some people might have is that, are kids more likely to have a violent behavior after or be convicted of a crime after watching a violent t.v. show? Some researchers did some research on the topic and here's what they found, ''Researchers followed 329 subjects over 15 years. They found that those who as children were exposed to violent TV shows were much more likely to later be convicted of crime. Researchers said that, "Media violence can affect any child from any family," regardless of social class or parenting.
Girls who watched more than an average amount of violence tended to throw things at their husbands. Boys who grew up watching violent TV shows were more likely to be violent with their wives.
Researchers concluded in Developmental Psychology that, "Every violent TV show increases a little-bit the likelihood of a child growing up to behave more aggressively."
Brutal and Violent Video Games
Here's a question that some people might have abuot video games, do people change after playing a brutal video game? A gruop of scientists from Sweden did a study on the topic and thei is what they found
''In the joint study by Stockholm University, Uppsala University, and the Karolinska Institutet of Sweden, two groups of boys (ages 12 to 15) were hooked up to heart monitors and split into two groups, one given a violent game and the other a non-violent game. The violent game group experienced increased heart rate variability, which continued after they went to bed and was recorded in their sleep patterns, despite the fact that the boys reported no problems sleeping.''
